There's no way to sugarcoat it, Washington -- social distancing and self-isolating are not fun, especially in the springtime when our beautiful state is coming back to life. But this too shall pass, and when it does, our nature trails will be waiting for you. If you're looking for a trail that will help you ease back into hiking when the time comes, check out the Franklin Falls. You'll love where you end up.
The Franklin Falls Trail is located near Snoqualmie Pass, about 18 miles east of North Bend.
The trail is well-marked and easy to find -- there's even a parking lot by the trailhead.
Franklin Falls is a two mile-out-and-back trek that is ranked as easy.
Other than some small elevation gains and a brief climb down to the waterfall viewing area, it's very even-keeled.
It won't take you long to feel like you're in another world when you're on this trail.
Almost as soon as you leave the sound of the South Fork Snoqualmie River drowns out the noise of I-90.
Hike about a mile and you'll come to the beautiful Franklin Falls.
This waterfall hits its peak in the summertime, but there's never a bad time to see it.

The falls actually consist of three separate tiers, giving them a drop of about 135 feet.
The upper two drops are north of I-90, and the bottom tier is this 70-foot drop.
Not only is the waterfall itself fantastic, but you'll be surrounded by forest and rivers.
There's an overpass right above the waterfall, but you'll feel like you're miles and miles from civilization.
Franklin Falls is one of Washington's most popular trails.
If you want to get a great parking spot and avoid crowds, get there early in the morning, preferably on a weekday.
Have you ever hiked Franklin Falls? If not, (or if it's been a while) add it to your list of Washington adventures.
