We're incredibly lucky to live in a coastal state where the ocean is, at most, a few hours away. That being said, Washington is also home to some seriously stunning lakes that will rival any day at the beach. Lake Wenatchee is gorgeous in any season, but this area really comes alive in the summertime. And it's practically impossible to have a bad day when you're surrounded by so much beauty.
Lake Wenatchee is located on the eastern flank of the central Cascades, just outside of Leavenworth off of Highway 2.
The lake spans 2,480 acres and is five miles long.
Lake Wenatchee has a backdrop of breathtaking mountains, making it seem like you're protected from the outside world.
This little piece is paradise is delightful in any season.
Since the lake is glacier-fed, it stays pretty cold, but that doesn't stop people from swimming in its crystal blue water all summer long.
And with water this clean, clear and inviting, we really can't blame them.
The lake is mainly accessed through the popular Lake Wenatchee State Park.
Here, you'll find a public boat launch, a campground with nearly 200 campsites, and plenty of places to enjoy the views of the water over a picnic lunch.
When the weather is warm, you'll see people windsurfing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and sometimes using ket skis.
Fishing is also a popular pastime here.
If you ever get the chance to go paddle boarding just before sunset here, you should definitely do it.
The photos speak for themselves.
Lake Wenatchee State Park is a perfect place to spend a summer day.
Of course, if winter is your preferred season, you'll want to check out the frozen winter wonderland that this area becomes. Winter camping is even available here, with heated restrooms and hot showers.
When was the last time you enjoyed a day at Lake Wenatchee State Park?
