Upper White Oak Falls is among the most beautiful of Shenandoah National Park's waterfalls, and it's no mystery why. In every season, this iconic waterfall draws visitors from near and far.
Upper White Oak Canyon is an area that boasts 6 waterfalls in total, and Upper White Oak drops an impressive 86 feet. So what's the best way to get there?
The most direct access requires parking at Milepost 42.6 along Skyline Drive and looking for the parking lot for White Oak Skyline Drive Trailhead.
Visitors should note that there's an entrance fee to get into Shenandoah National Park. Looking for a fee-free day? There are several of them every year; just check out the Shenandoah National Park website to find out when they are.
The hike to reach White Oak Upper Falls is 4.6 miles roundtrip, so be sure to pace yourself and keep in mind that the hike has a challenging elevation.
Fortunately, you'll be surrounded by breathtaking scenes of nature every step of the way.
Once you reach the falls, be sure to give yourself plenty of time to admire the scenery. There's just something so awe-inspiring about a massive waterfall in the middle of the woods.
