The Easy Forested Trail In Virginia That Leads To An Incredible Waterfall

Dark Hollow Falls in Shenandoah National Park offers an easy-access hike to a stunning waterfall.

Here in Virginia, we love our waterfalls. While many of them are secluded in the woods and require miles of hiking, there are some that are relatively easy-access. One such attraction, known as Dark Hollow Falls, requires just a small amount of hiking before revealing itself.

Tucked away in Shenandoah National Park, Dark Hollow Falls is one of the closest scenic waterfalls to Skyline Drive. You'll find the parking area at 50.7.

Since this trail is frequented by many park visitors, be sure to get there early or better yet, visit during the week if possible.

The trail follows a stream and descends for about .8 miles before it reveals the main attraction.

Dark Hollow Falls is an absolutely exquisite cascading waterfall that will surely take your breath away.

The sound of the rushing water paired with the serenity of the surrounding woods makes this hike unforgettable.

And while this trek is considered easy, note that the return trip is quite steep. Take your time and don't forget to pack plenty of water.

This trail is also notorious for black bears. Be sure to admire and respect them from a distance!
