The Vermont Sky Will Light Up With Shooting Stars And A Nearly Full Moon This Week

Nature is about to put on a gorgeous spectacle in Vermont. The 2019 Persied meteor shower is about to kick off in the Green Mountain state and you won’t want to miss this year’s show. Here’s how to catch it.

Who doesn’t love catching a shooting star as it streaks across the sky? This week, the skies about Vermont will be full of them.

The 2019 Persied meteor shower is starting on August 12 and will peak in the early hours of August 13. However, the comets will be flying all this week and part of next week.

In fact, you’ll be able to see shooting stars until August 24. But unfortunately, there is a bit of a catch.

The start of the meteor shower will also coincide with the rise of a full moon. Though the moon will certainly look lovely, its bright light will make it a bit harder to spot comets as they fly.

However, experts are saying that you shouldn’t let the moon deter you. This year’s show is sure to be one for the books.

While you’re watching, keep your eyes peeled for the Swift-Tuttle comet. It’s about 16 miles in diameter, making it larger than the comet that wiped out the dinosaurs.

But don’t fret. There’s no chance the Swift-Tuttle comet will be making an impact on Earth this week. Be sure to stay up late this week to catch the show!
