A generous donation has enabled Vermont to add a new state park to its already impressive collection. In Hubbardton, you'll find the Taconic Mountains Ramble State Park In Vermont, and this might be the most remarkable of them all. Fields of wildflowers, hiking trails, waterfalls and even a Japanese garden are among the many things you'll find here. We can't wait to spend leisurely days exploring this little slice of paradise!
The Taconic Mountains Ramble State Park was given to the Vermont Department of Forests, Parks, and Recreation last fall.
The land was bequeathed by Carson "Kit" Davidson who owned the land and meticulously cared for it for 46 years before he died at the age of 92.
There are gorgeous views, fields of wildflowers, waterfalls and many hiking trails that can be enjoyed by all.
Davidson and his wife, Mickie, lived in Greenwich Village and wanted a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.
After five years of looking for the perfect property, they purchased the 420 acre property for $69 an acre.
What makes the Taconic Mountains Ramble different from other State Parks is that there is a Japanese garden in Vermont!
You can find this masterpiece in the shadows of Mt. Zion.
Davidson was a proponent of conservation and created trails, preserved wildflower fields and peaceful areas throughout the land.
He wanted everyone to enjoy the natural beauty and welcomed visitors with a smile.
A donation from the Davidsons was left to help maintain the trails and gardens.
