See The Tallest Waterfall In Vermont At C.C. Putnam State Forest

There are endless ways to appreciate nature in the Green Mountain State. Yet, taking a trip to hike around the tallest waterfall in Vermont is still one of the best ways to absorb the beauty of Vermont. Moss Glen Falls, located in C.C. Putnam State Forest, is 85 feet high and beautiful all year long. While seeing the falls from the trailhead is an option, hiking up the trail to see the falls from above is a true delight. Moss Glen Falls is one of the most popular falls to visit in Vermont. This stunning waterfall comes into view in under a quarter-mile on the trail, making it a great option for those who may not be physically inclined for a longer or steeper hike.
The entire Moss Glen Falls Trail clocks in around 4 miles. The out-and-back trail is relatively easy, although the climb to the top of the falls is a bit steep.
Follow the well-marked trail into the forest. Be sure to stay on the trail to keep yourself safe and to preserve the nature around you.
Conditions near the top of the falls can be a little dangerous, especially if you stray from the trail to get a closer look. Tumbling 85 feet down the falls is certainly not worth risking.
Hiking the steep incline is the hardest part of this hike but it is worth the sweat. Views from the top of the trail are simply stunning.
Getting glimpses of the falls cascading down through the foliage is a great bonus too. Moss Glen Falls is gorgeous from any angle.
Most people remember the fall as pictured here, surging down the rockface surrounded by lush, green vegetation. However, if you visit now, you'll see a stunning frozen waterfall that will take your breath away.
