Enjoy A Full Day Of Adventure With A Hike, Picnic, And Waterfall Chasing At Vermont’s Texas Falls Recreation Area
Texas Falls Recreation Area offers hiking, waterfalls, fishing, and picnicking, making it a perfect family destination.
Texas Falls Recreation Area is the perfect family outing destination because there's something for everyone to enjoy. Along with a hike, waterfalls, opportunities to go fishing, and a designated picnic area, there's also an observation deck that's a popular spot for taking photos on special occasions!
The path around Texas Falls is a loop that's just over a mile. Even though it's an easy hike, take time to enjoy the sites and sounds as you spend time on this trail. And, as long as your dog is on a leash, they can join you for this fun day out too!
Texas Falls Recreation Area is located in the middle of the state, near Hancock.
To reach Texas Falls, take Route 125 from Rochester or Middlebury, Vermont and then follow the signs to Forest Road 39.
The 1.2 mile trail includes steps and vantage points to stop and enjoy the stunning views.
The water from the waterfall flows into the White River. It then eventually makes its way to the Connecticut River.

During your hike, take time to stop and enjoy the sounds from the rushing water.
One of the most popular times to visit this well-known Vermont trail is in the fall. Due to the weather, the best time to visit Texas Falls Recreation Area is from March through November.
As you hike, remember to snap some shots of the colorful leaves too.
And while it might be tempting, swimming is absolutely prohibited at Texas Falls Recreation Area.
After you've explored the trail and Vermont waterfalls, take advantage of the scenery and enjoy a picnic lunch at the pavilion area.
