More People Visited Utah’s State Parks Than The Mighty Five In 2023, Making It A Record-Breaking Year
We love the state parks scattered around Utah. From the incredible hiking trails and picnic areas to stargazing opportunities and campgrounds, there are adventures and activities at every destination. However, it appears we aren’t the only individuals who love Utah’s state parks. 2023 was a record-breaking year. In fact, Utah state parks saw more visitors than its five national parks combined.
There is a state park in Utah for every nature lover. From sand dunes and waterfalls to historical sites and mountains, there is variety, beauty, and adventure everywhere you look.
And many people took advantage of these parks around the Beehive State. In 2023, more than 12 million people visited Utah’s 46 state parks. This is more than a 20 percent increase from 2022.
And not only is this number breaking records but it is only the third time in history that more people visited Utah’s state parks than national parks. Approximately 10.6 million people visited Utah’s five national parks in 2023.
So what parks saw the largest number of visitors? Sand Hollow came in number one with more than 1.4 million visitors.
Dead Horse Point, Snow Canyon, Antelope Island, and Willard Bay State Parks also topped the list.
Piute, Flight Park State Recreation Area, and Territorial Statehouse State Parks were at the bottom of the list.
Piute State Park, the least visited state park in Utah in 2023, saw only 1,300 visitors.
Utah has become a top travel destination around the country due to its incredible parks and recreational opportunities. Aren’t we blessed to live in such a remarkable state?
