This Enormous Roadside Farmers Market In Utah Is Too Good To Pass Up

Pettingill's Fruit & Produce, a family-owned business since 1947, offers a variety of fresh, seasonal produce in northern Utah.

Summer is the time for fresh produce, but there aren't as many local farms in Utah as there were a few decades ago. Luckily, you can still find a few farmers with roadside stands, and there's one that's been around for generations.

Pettingill's Fruit & Produce got its start in 1947. It's always been a family-owned business, and it's a long-time staple in northern Utah.

Address: 8815 US-89, Willard, UT 84340

Gay and Helen Pettingill founded the business, but it has passed down to their son Steven and daughter Jean Davis. Not only is this a family business; it's also an important part of the community. Many local teenagers find work here during summer months.

As soon as you drive up, you'll see flat bed trailers with bushel baskets of whatever's in season. The bounties of the harvest await at this market.

Juicy bushels of peaches are just waiting to be turned into peach jam and preserved in jars for eating during cold winter months. There are always several varieties of peaches available.

Ripe, red tomatoes in several varieties are perfect for canning, adding to backyard bbq burgers, or making salsa.

Pickling cucumbers are another favorite. There's nothing better than a jar of homemade dill pickles!

Mountains of melons appear mid-summer.

Huge boxes of corn from nearby farms are ready to be husked, boiled, buttered up and eaten off the cob.

Other fruits and vegetables include apricots, cherries, berries, pears, peppers, green beans, beets, and more. If it's in season, you'll find it here.

Pettingill's Fruit & Produce opens early in July and offers fresh produce through October. Visit Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
