Capture A Breathtaking Sunset Over The Great Salt Lake During This Full Moon Walk

There is nothing quite like a sunset. Whether it is a sunset over the mountains, the city, or even a large body of water, these views are breathtaking in every single way. Hosted by the Utah State Park Department, you can now watch a sunset and a full moon rise while learning a little more about Mother Nature, Utah's fabulous parks, and more on a Full Moon Walk. This event is sure to inspire you in so many ways.

Mark your calendar for October 28, 2023, to capture a sunset and a full moon over the Great Salt Lake.

During this event, you will join a park ranger for an evening walking along Silver Sands Beach at the Great Salt Lake.

The walk begins at sunset, where you can enjoy a fiery sky over a beautiful body of water...

…and continues as the full moon rises over the water.

This walk is held on specific nights throughout the warmer months of the year, with the last event for 2023 scheduled for October 28. Each walk has a different theme, so it’s always informative as well as beautiful and unforgettable.

You must pre-register for the event and there is a 100 people capacity limit. I strongly recommend purchasing tickets as early as possible.

The ranger-led walk is $3 per person and a $5 day-use pass to enter the Great Salt Lake State Park is required. Dogs are welcome to join but must be kept on a leash.

If you are worried about the difficulty of the hike, don’t be. Your walk will be approximately 0.5 miles along flat terrain. You will need to watch out for typical beach hazards but you should be able to enjoy the view, rather than stare at your feet.
