Tucked away in St. George is one of my favorite parks — Pioneer Park. This 52-acre park is the ultimate outdoor playground with hiking trails, rock climbing opportunities, and the coolest views. But, also found within this unique park is one area I highly recommend you explore — the St. George Narrows. This is a narrow slot canyon in Utah that is fun and perfect for a quick adventure. This area is easy, short, and delightful to visit any time of the year. There’s no wonder it’s worth driving across the state to explore.
Pioneer Park in St. George is a fun day trip destination for the entire family. Here, you will find all types of attractions including countless rock formations to view and climb.
But one of the most unique places to explore in this Utah park is the St. George Narrows, also known as the Pioneer Park Narrows. This is one of our favorite Southern Utah natural wonders.
When you first approach the narrows, you’ll find it is quite wide and easy to walk inside and explore.
However, as you continue to make your way through, it becomes much more narrow.
The narrows are not long and will quickly appear as a simple crack in the rock. If tight spaces make you nervous, this may cause your anxiety levels to rise.
If you can’t fit through the entire canyon, that’s okay. Children and small adults may have no problem navigating through the narrows but it’s much harder for most adults to explore the entire thing.
If you make it all the way through the canyon, you can either turn around and head back the same way or cross the bridge on top and make your way back to your vehicle.
The St. George Narrows is someplace new to explore — it’s unique, fun, and family-friendly.
Be respectful of others when visiting the Narrows in St. George as this small slot canyon can become quite busy. Also, make sure you spend plenty of time exploring the other areas of Pioneer Park — you won’t regret it.
