As any resident of Texas knows, the Lone Star State has no shortage of great trails. Our magnificent scenery and huge size lends itself well to a virtually unlimited number of places for hiking. At nearly 800,000 acres, it goes without saying that Big Bend National Park has a variety of paths for visitors to explore. With over 75 marked trails, there's plenty to see here. One of the most popular trails in the park is the Window Trail. This five-mile trek may be a bit of a hike in the Texas heat, but the views are definitely worth it!
How magical is this scenery? It will remind you of everything great about Texas.
These views are pristine, and on a clear day, you can see for miles.
There are few things as awe-inspiring as seeing cliffs rise high above you. With so much space, you may hike the entire trail and not see another person.
Texas has some really majestic terrain. This trail will take you through scrubland, cliffs, and a basin. A lot of the footing is very rocky, so make sure you have on good shoes.
Bring plenty of water and protein bars! The first part of the hike is mostly downhill and fairly easy, but the trip back is a bit of a climb. There isn't much shade, so you'll want to be well-hydrated.
You'll see so much of Texas' incredible array of plants, and you may even see some wildlife too. Watch your step, as rattlesnakes frequent the region!
While the trail is typically passable, flash flooding can occur in rainy weather. Make sure to turn back if it starts to rain.
These lovely vistas will show you all that Texas has to offer!
