This Underrated Cavern Just Might Be The Most Beautiful Place In Texas

Cascade Caverns in Boerne, Texas, offers stunning waterfalls and vast cave rooms, providing a peaceful alternative to more popular tourist destinations.

Everyone raves about Natural Bridge Caverns, and while they're gorgeous in their own right, I think it's time we recognize some of Texas' other caverns - namely, Cascade Caverns in Boerne. They get their name from the seven beautiful waterfalls that flow within the cave, and some of the rooms are nearly as big as football fields. Plus, you'll have more privacy and be able to enjoy the caverns in peace since Boerne isn't nearly as popular a tourist destination as San Antonio. See what's in store for you below.

The cave has been open for many millennia considering the numerous prehistoric animal remains that have been discovered there.

It's been open to the public since 1932 and was home to the only natural interior waterfall (or waterfalls, I should say - there were 7 of them) in Texas before droughts dwindled them to a mere trickle.

Although the falls are now artificially pumped, they aren't any less beautiful.

You can see them and the rest of the cave in an hour long tour that takes you 140 feet below the Earth's surface.

You might see strange insects, reptiles, bats, and a rare salamander that doesn't exist anywhere else in the world.

But you'll also see incredible beauty, especially in the Cathedral Room that will completely awe you with its sheer vastness.
