River hikes always end up being some of the best. In the summer, river hikes are great since you have a place to cool off and relax; during cooler months, river hikes provide stunning scenery, changing leaves, and great opportunities for animal and bird watching. The Twin Falls and Sculpture Falls Hike via the Barton Greenbelt Trail is one of these glorious river hikes in Texas, and if you haven't been, you absolutely have to go check it out.
The Barton Creek Greenbelt Trail is just over three miles long, but don't worry, it's a relatively easy hike.
Located south of Austin, Texas, in the Barton Creek Greenbelt, people use this trail year-round for hiking and running.
The two falls, Twin Falls and Sculpture Falls, are what make this hike so special and beautiful. With plenty of spots along the river to swim, you can make this hike a full day trip if you're up for it!
Dogs are also welcome on this trail, although they must be kept on leash. Be sure to bring yours along to meet the other dogs you will likely meet on the trail.
One section of the Barton Creek Greenbelt is referred to as "The Hill of Life" and it's easy to see why. Lush and dense foliage and winding rivers make this an appealing place for a quick walk or spot to spend your entire weekend.
Be sure to remember to bring a swimsuit during the warmer months! The water is so inviting, you will just have to jump in!
