This Lake May Have The Clearest, Most Pristine Water In Tennessee

Have you ever made your way out to Dale Hollow Lake? It's a teensy tiny place with a cult following that is anything but misguided. We adore this little bit of heaven, and we simply can't believe you'd find a clearer spot to enjoy a bit of water play in the whole of the state. Curious about why we love it so much? Technically known as the Dale Hollow Reservoir, this stunning body of water straddles the Kentucky/ Tennessee border. We're not territorial with our beauty - we'll share. We tied for the most neighborly state, after all. (Hey there, Missouri!)

The lake was actually formed when the Obey River was dammed as a result of the Flood Control Act of 1938.

There are 27,700 surface acres of water, and roughly 24,842 acres of land that surrounds it.

Water sports are extremely popular here, and the crystal clear water makes it a prime spot for landlocked scuba divers.

The sunsets are known across the state for their brilliance and the gorgeous way they're reflected across the water.

The lake is all-American, too: it happens to be the home of one of the largest wintering Bald Eagle populations in the state. How crazy is that?!
