Old Hickory Beach Is A Unique Dog-Friendly Destination In Tennessee Perfect For An Outdoor Adventure
Old Hickory Beach in Nashville is a dog-friendly beach perfect for a day out with your canine companion.
If you're a dog lover, it can be tough to go out for a day on the town without bringing your best buddy along. That sad face they give you as they realize they're not going to be able to hop in the car with you is absolutely heartbreaking! But don't fret, there are plenty of dog-friendly outings in Tennessee where you can take your fun-loving canine. One option that we love is Old Hickory Beach in Nashville. This dog-friendly beach in Tennessee is absolute heaven for furry friends.
The beach is located at Old Hickory Lake, a 22,500-acre man-made lake named for Tennessee native President Andrew Jackson. Due to his famously aggressive nature, his nickname was "Old Hickory."
While the beach is intended for people, it's one of the few beaches in Tennessee that's also dog-friendly.
Dogs are not allowed in some areas (most notably the human swim areas and the sandy play area), so make sure to keep an eye out for signage. Dogs must remain on a leash under six feet in the recreational areas.
Fido will have a blast looking out for wildlife! There are many waterfowl that reside in this area, so be courteous and don't let him chase after anyone.
While dogs are not allowed in the area where humans swim, they are allowed in the lake outside of that swim zone. So if your best bud loves water, he's in luck here!
There's a great 1.1-mile walking trail where you can go on a leashed walk to stretch your legs. The scenery is beautiful here!
You shouldn't have much difficulty finding a restaurant with a dog-friendly patio to head out to afterward. Nashville is a pretty dog-friendly city and there's so much to explore here!
