Tennessee is known for many things, including their incredible Southern cooking and the absolutely stunning landscapes that can be found throughout the state. But when it comes to choosing between those things, we love asking the important question: "Why not have both?" Luckily, there's a truly fantastic restaurant located in the heart of one of Tennessee's most idyllic parks, and you'll just have to see (and taste) it to believe it.
Cumberland Mountain State Park is one of the most scenic parks in the state. It's centrally located between Knoxville, Chattanooga, and Nashville.
The park is known for its stunning views along the banks of Byrd Lake. The stone bridge and dam on the lake is historic in itself.
The dam/bridge was built by the CCC as a part of the New Deal in 1940, and it's the largest masonry project that they ever completed. Who knew??
The real star of the park, though, is the Homestead Harvest restaurant that sits right on the banks of the lake.
The restaurant has true Southern buffets six days a week, but their views from the dining room are the real stunners here.
The menu and hours change seasonally. During the winter, when the restaurant is the least busy, they're open for lunch Tuesday through Sunday, but they only serve dinner on Fridays and Saturdays.
Head out to Cumberland Mountain State Park for a hike and fuel up at Homestead Harvest the next time you want to get out in the Tennessee wilderness. The restaurant's address is in Crossville and can be found at 24 Office Dr.
Branch out and experience some iconic Tennessee music history at this Elvis festival in Memphis. We promise it'll have you all shook up.
