With spectacular views, a gorgeous waterfall, and plenty of challenging terrain, Fiery Gizzard Trail is perfect for veteran hikers.

It’s located near Tracy City in South Cumberland State Park and is about 9.6 miles long.

Start this loop trail counter-clockwise. This way, you’ll be able to tackle the tough ascent through the forest while you’re still energized.

The trail winds through shady groves and along babbling brooks. You can hop over small streams and stop to rest next to stunning waterfalls.

The water along the trail is clear and chilly, even in the summer. Feel free to take a breather or even wade in if the weather permits.

This trail is rated as hard and shouldn’t be attempted by novice hikers. Be sure to bring plenty of water and some snacks to refuel.

Eventually, you’ll find your way to Raven’s Point, the most scenic spot along the hike. The views here are unparalleled.

Pause at the point to appreciate your hard work and collect some amazing photographs. You’ll have earned them!

There is parking and a picnic area available at the park. This trail can take three to four hours, so be sure to leave enough time in your schedule.
