This lake is a natural spring fed lake, and is over 955 acres, making it an expansive lake to boat and fish on.

Pickeral Lake Recreation Area also offers campsites to stay and relax. Many water activities are allowed here such as swimming, boating, and fishing.

Speaking of fishing, the name "Pickerel Lake" is from the American Indian word that translates to "where you spear long fish." The history of the name lives on, as fishing is the main activity at Pickerel.
