The Fleeting Natural Wonder That Only Happens Once A Year In South Carolina

There's a spot along the Catawba River in South Carolina that explodes once a year with a blanket of exquisite lilies. The event is one of its kind in the world, and you'll want to see it.

The Rocky Shoals Spider Lilies that bloom at Landsford Canal State Park are an amazing sight to see.

With more than 20 acres of beautiful white lily blooms covering the river, this annual event showcases the largest stand of Rocky Shoals Spider Lilies anywhere.

The flowers bloom all at once starting in mid-May through mid-June. From the observation deck at the state park you'll find lilies as far as your eye can see.

Bring a canoe or kayak and paddle through the lily labyrinth for a front row seat.

South Carolina State Parks celebrates this fleeting occurrence each year with a one-day event called "Lily Fest." It's usually scheduled from 12:00 - 5:00 on the third Sunday in May, but the date each year depends on the blooming season.
