Rhode Island's waterfalls may not be as tall in height or as numerous in number as the rest of New England's, but we've still got some nice, peaceful falls that we can appreciate. And if you don't have a lot of time to spend in nature, we recommend heading to Rumford and checking out Hunts Mill Park. Not only is the main trail less than a mile long, but it also leads to a nice, tranquil waterfall many Rhode Islanders don't even know about! The Hunts Mill area is actually a pretty historically significant piece of history.
The property is home to the East Providence Historical Society, and the John Hunt House is one of the oldest houses in the area.
The Hunts Mill Trail is barely a hike at all.
It's more of a nature walk, really. The entire path spans about 0.7 miles.
This little trail is open all year, but it shines its brightest in the autumn.
That being said, there's never a bad time to visit, and it makes a perfect summer experience.

The waterfall here is man-made, and not many people know it's here.
Whether you're in the area to check out the John Hunt House (now the Hunt House Museum) or just enjoy some peace and quiet, a stop at the waterfall is a must.
The Hunts Mill Trail is a nice, easy, pleasant trek perfect for a family outing.
You can even bring your dogs with you, although they'll have to stay on leashes.
