Hike The Coast Of The Majestic Atlantic Ocean On Block Island In Rhode Island

Block Island's Greenway Traverse offers a moderately challenging six-mile hike with stunning ocean views and varied terrain.

If there's one thing on which we can all agree, it's Rhode Island offers some of the most majestic views in the entire country. Most of them involve water, too - like the views you'll be treated to on this spectacular trail in Rhode Island. It's a slightly long one that poses some challenges, but you'll likely agree all the work is more than worth it.

Arguably one of Rhode Island's beloved gems, Block Island is the perfect place to spend a day in any season.

When you want to see some of Block Island's pristine beauty and challenge yourself a bit, follow the Greenway Traverse: Payne Road to Beacon Hill Road.

The six-mile trail scores a moderate rating due to its varied terrain and inclines.

However, once you see the views, you'll forget all about those challenges.

Some hikers, in fact, consider it a relaxing walk. It really all depends on your skill level and whether you're in good shape.

Before you set off, lather yourself in sunscreen and bring plenty along, too. While the trail features some shaded areas, you'll be out in the open sun quite a bit as well.

Because you'll face varied terrain, wear a good, sturdy pair of shoes. Bring a sufficient supply of water (and maybe even some snacks), too.

You definitely don't want to forget your camera as the trail boasts quite a few sights, including Rodman's Hollow, Beacon Hill, and Dodge Cemetery.

One of the highlights is, hands down, the ocean views. Take some time to just drink in the scenery.
