You’ll Fall In Love With The Waterfall Hiding On This Breathtaking Rhode Island Trail

Waterfalls are my favorite of Mother Nature's masterpieces. Natural, man-made, huge, or tiny. Nothing compares to the hypnotic sound of a waterfall cascading into a pool of water. Rhode Island doesn't have many waterfalls but those we do have are absolute gems. A stroll along this short, sweet, and breathtaking trail in Rumford, Rhode Island will lead you to one of those gems.

Carve out about an hour for your journey along the Turner Reservoir Loop Trail, which tallies just under three miles and is chock full of beautiful scenery.

Sporting an easy rating, this scenic Rhode Island trail appeals to adventurers of all ages, including the little ones. Pups are allowed, as long as they remain leashed.

While the trail is predominately flat, it does feature some rough terrain, namely areas with roots jutting up, so keep an eye out.

Akin to a leisurely walk, Turner Reservoir Loop Trail meanders along a boardwalk, through a wooded area, and on a suburban road.

The terrain is just rough enough that it can be challenging if you're using a stroller.

Pass swans and geese floating on the water and...

As tempting as it is to feed the beautiful birds, take heed of the signs cautioning against doing so.

A dam that boasts a spectacular cascade. (Okay, so it's not a traditional waterfall, but close enough, right?)

Since the trail is open year-round, stop by during the winter, too, particularly when the cascade is sprinkled with snow.

Before setting off, make sure you pack bug spray and your camera. The trail can get quite buggy, especially after it rains.

If you're hiking after it rains, you'll probably want to wear shoes you don't mind getting muddy and wet.

Don't limit your exploring to the warmer months, either. The trail transforms into a wonderland after it snows, beckoning both bundled-up hikers and those on snowshoes.
