There's no doubt in our minds that Rhode Island is a naturally beautiful state. With approximately 400 miles of coastline, it's easy to see why. But it's not just the coast that's absolutely stunning as there are plenty of areas inland that are also quite scenic. One such place is Dundery Brook Trail in Little Compton, a boardwalk hike in Rhode Island with beautiful views to enjoy along the way.
Dundery Brook Trail can be found in Little Compton's John C. Whitehead Preserve which is part of The Nature Conservancy. Here visitors can explore a picturesque property filled with wetlands, forests, and open meadows.
Both wheelchair and stroller-friendly, this accessible boardwalk trail is good for all abilities. It's a place where everyone is welcome to explore some of the best of what nature has to offer in the state.
The 1.8-mile out-and-back trail is rated as easy. Since this is a lightly trafficked trail, you may even have it all to yourself when you go.
The views of the meadows along the way are nothing short of stunning. Keep your eyes open for a wide variety of birds that call this preserve home. Over 60 species have been found here!
You can get up close and personal with nature along the elevated boardwalk trail as it leads through the forest filled with oak and holly trees.
One of the best times to come here is in the fall when the leaves change from green into glorious shades of red, yellow, and orange. This is the time of year when the views are the most spectacular.
One of the best views along the way is of Bumble Bee Pond where the trail ends. Take some time to take in the views and reflect on the beauty you can find in the state of Rhode Island!
