Your Kids Will Love This Easy 1-Mile Waterfall Hike Right Here In Pittsburgh

Summer's days are slowing fading away. And, by now, most of us — parents and kids (whether they want to admit it or not) — are ready for the start of school, especially after a busy summer. But, we still have a few weeks to go, and that means finding fun ways to fill the remaining days. Slow down the pace for a few hours, and enjoy a leisurely stroll along this waterfall hike in Pittsburgh, the perfect way to cap off a summer of fun.

Usher the kids into the car for an adventure at Fall Run Park, nestled in Glenshaw, just eight miles from downtown Pittsburgh.

Of course, the 93-acre park offers plenty of amenities, including a playground, picnic tables, and a basketball court.

But, start your adventure with a leisurely stroll along the one-mile Fall Run Trail.

Fortunately, the trail — which includes wooden staircases and footbridges — is easy for hikers of all ages and skill levels.

Stroll along a picturesque stream. And, don't be surprised to see kids cooling off in the water on hot summer days. (You might want to join them, too!)

Hear the gushing of the 30-foot Fall Run Waterfall as you get closer. Snap photos and selfies from the base of the waterfall.

Then, if everyone's up for it, climb the wooden staircase that offers spectacular overhead views of Allegheny County's only waterfall.

Visiting after a rainfall? The predominately smooth trail generally becomes muddy after rain, so wear appropriate footwear and watch your step.
