The Small Town Lake In Pennsylvania That’s An Idyllic Summer Day Trip

A day at the lake just might be the best way to spend a summer day. And with more than 2,500 lakes scattered around Pennsylvania, we have plenty from which to choose when deciding where to go. For a quiet day on the water, make your way to this picturesque lake in Troy, Pennsylvania.
Pack all of your gear for a day at the lake (and poolside) then head to Mount Pisgah State Park, a 1,300-acre state park nestled in the small town of Troy.
With a full menu of amenities, this state park is the place to be on a hot summer day in Pennsylvania.
A highlight of the state park, Stephen Foster Lake covers 70 acres, beckoning boaters with its calm water and beautiful views.
If you don't have your own boat, you can rent one during the summer at the concession area.
With perch, bass, bluegill, and crappies in the lake, fishing is a popular pastime, too. ADA-accessible parking and a fishing area are also available.
Don't limit your visits to the Pennsylvania state park to the summer, though. You can go ice skating on the lake during the winter.
While you can't swim in the lake, you can still stay cool all summer long by gliding into the park's swimming pool. Admission is free.
The pool is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Memorial Day through Labor Day, weather permitting.
Grab a bite from the snack bar, which sells all of summer's favorites - burgers, hot dogs, fries, pizza, ice cream, and candy. Or grill your own goodies and have a picnic near the lake.
If you're up for a bit of exploring on foot, follow one of the more than half a dozen trails that tally 11 miles.
