Snowy winter days are just meant for curling up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate and watching the snow tumble down outside. However, for those who like outdoor adventure, a snowy day is also the perfect time to sit back and watch the landscape roll by on a classic sleigh ride. Northern Star Farm in Pennsylvania offers enchanting sleigh rides that are sure to add a touch of magic to your winter.

Listen closely for the sound of jingle bells ringing out in the cold winter air as you approach Northern Star Farm in Trappe, an idyllic setting for an old-fashioned sleigh ride.

The sleigh riding season at Northern Star Farm generally runs from January through mid-March weather-permitting. Before sleigh rides can set off, the weather conditions must be just right.

At least 3.5 to four inches of snow must blanket the ground. Forecasted temperatures must also be low enough that the snow won't melt.

If you're taking a private ride, you'll climb aboard the sleigh with your party. Wrap yourself in a cozy Victorian-era blanket as the two horses begin their trot around the 200-acre farm.

Sleighbells, attached to the horses, will ring out as the sleigh makes its way along the packed snow. Rides last an hour and promise plenty of gorgeous winter scenery.

Since weather conditions don't often last for too long, you must be ready to jump on the opportunity for a sleigh ride. Reservations are on a first-come, first-served basis.

However, if you purchase a gift certificate in advance, you'll receive preferential status when you call to book your sleigh ride.

Sleigh rides are offered throughout the week, in both the day and in the evening, when the weather conditions allow.
