This Jaw Dropping Place In Pennsylvania Will Blow You Away

We all know that there are endless, unbelievable state parks in our state — so many, in fact, that visiting each and every one would be an impressive feat. One of the most popular and striking places available to us is Pine Creek Gorge, or the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania. It is located in Tioga State Forest and encompasses both Colton Point State Park and Leonard Harrison State Park.

The entire gorge is about 160,000 acres large, and at its deepest point is 1,450 feet. About 20,000 years ago, run-off from a melting glacier ran south and carved the deep gorge into the earth.

Pine Creek Gorge is a designated national landmark by the National Parks Service, because it not only has incredible scenery but also is of ecological and geological interest.

One of the most popular activities for visitors at Pine Creek Gorge is the Rail Trail— it is a 65-mile bike trail that begins at Wellsboro and runs all the way to the Jersey Shore. Of course, you don't have to bike the entire thing. It is an incredible way to experience Pine Creek Gorge.

Ask anyone who's familiar with Pennsylvania hiking, and they'll tell you— Pine Creek Gorge is where it's at.
