Take A Hike To A Pennsylvania Mountaintop That’s Like A Fairy Tale

Discover a picturesque and moderately challenging five-mile loop trail to the top of Mount Minsi in Pennsylvania.

If you've been craving an old-fashioned outdoor adventure, you probably won't find one as fun (albeit somewhat challenging) as this trail that will take you to a Pennsylvania mountaintop. It's one of those Pennsylvania hiking trails that's picture-perfect in every season, so it can get a bit crowded.

Tallying just five miles roundtrip, the picturesque loop trail takes you to the top of Mount Minsi via the Appalachian Trail.

The trail earns a moderate rating for a few reasons. Climbing to the top includes some rocky areas, and the trek back down can get a bit steep in spots.

Your best bet is to wear sturdy hiking shoes and to bring a sufficient supply of water to keep you hydrated. Sunscreen is always an essential item, too.

Hikers give the trail praise for being well-marked, so you shouldn't have much trouble staying on track. You'll also pass a ton of scenic beauty, including numerous waterfalls.

You might run into some local wildlife, too, including frogs and maybe even a small snake or two.

Take a peek at the trees, where you might just catch sight of a bald eagle surveying the landscape.

Fancy a picnic? Bring some food and drinks along, then stop at one of the scenic overlooks - Lookout Rock or Council Rock - for a breather and a bite to eat.

Since the mountain is perched above the highway, you will hear some traffic as you hike.
