Although this Pennsylvania nature preserve spans 1,025 acres, there's one 75-acre section that's home to an absolutely breathtaking old-growth forest.
A stroll through the old-growth forest will take you past trees that are more than a century old. Some are estimated to be as old as 120 years.

Boyd Big Tree Preservation Conservation Area is home to several trails that tally a total of 12 miles. To experience the old-growth forest, follow the two-mile Upper Spring Trail.
While it's considered moderate, the trail passes these old-growth trees and promises jaw-dropping views of the French Creek Valley.
Upper Spring Trail is a loop trail, and you'll follow the blue blazes.
The Pennsylvania conservation area is also ideal for a bit of wildlife watching. Keep an eye out for white-tailed deer, squirrels, and wild turkeys. Black bears also call the area home.
