Have you ever just sat and watched a butterfly fluttering about? It's such a beautiful sight, isn't it? While we can usually see a butterfly or two when we go outside, even in our own backyard, we'll be treated to a really unique and fun experience at the Butterfly Atrium at Hershey Gardens, a butterfly wonderland in Hershey, Pennsylvania.
A stroll through the 23-acre Hershey Gardens offers the perfect opportunity to slow things down for a little bit, to just enjoy the moment.
While Hershey Gardens is full of life in the spring and summer, it also hosts events during the fall and at Christmastime.
One of the highlights of the gardens is the Butterfly Atrium, home to hundreds of butterflies, many of them rare and from such faraway places as Africa and Asia.
Open all year round, the Butterfly Atrium welcomes visitors of all ages. However, strollers are not allowed in the atrium.
Take your time in the atrium, so you can really soak up the ambiance. You might even get to interact with a butterfly or two.
Watch them eat, and...
If you're lucky and patient, you might find one lands right on you. Don't be surprised if it tickles just a little bit.
Try holding up your hand to see if a butterfly lands on you. It might take a bit, so be patient.
Stop by the chrysalis cabinet, too, where you can view chrysalids.
During your exploration, check out the many tropical plants in the atrium. You'll see everything from cacao trees to plumeria trees.
