The Bridge Hike In Pennsylvania That Will Make Your Stomach Drop

Hike to the Kinzua Bridge Skywalk in Pennsylvania for breathtaking views and a unique glass floor experience.

Sensational views can often leave us awe-struck, providing us with memories that will journey with us through a lifetime. If you’re not exactly a fan of heights, prepare yourself for stomach-dropping moments, a few butterflies, and an abundance of beauty. This bridge hike in Pennsylvania is picture-perfect any time of the year – but especially when brilliant autumn colors paint the landscape.

Pack a bit of courage, especially if you’re afraid of heights, and a camera when you set off on the short but sweet trail to Kinzua Bridge Skywalk at Kinzua Bridge State Park in Mount Jewett.

The trail spans just a half of a mile, beginning in the parking lot near the bridge. From there, you’ll face a predominately paved path that really doesn’t have those heart-pounding moments you might experience once on the skywalk.

Kinzua Bridge Skywalk is what remains of the once majestic Kinzua Viaduct, a massive railroad viaduct that at one time held distinction as "the highest and longest railroad viaduct in the world."

The bridge partially collapsed during a tornado in 2003, leaving debris scattered along the forest floor. That debris remains to this day, a testament to the destruction that took place.

Meander along the 600-foot bridge that boasts stunning views of the surrounding forest all year around. The masterpiece of the hike is, however, the glass floor.

Peer down several hundred feet at the forest floor beneath you. This is one of those one-of-a-kind moments you won’t forget any time soon.
