There's a multitude of riches here in Oregon, especially when it comes to waterfalls. All across the state, there are some truly wondrous waterfalls that are just waiting to be explored! Oregon's spectacular Umpqua National Forest, for instance, is positively overflowing with beautiful waterfall hikes. Three of the best trails are nestled in an old-growth forest, all within five miles of each other. These hikes are short enough that you can easily visit three different waterfalls in a single afternoon -- which, in our humble opinion, sounds like the very best way to spend a day! Take a look:
All three of these short-and-sweet waterfall hikes in Oregon can be found in the Umpqua National Forest, just outside of Cottage Grove.
The first waterfall hike on our list is Moon Falls. The trail is 0.5 miles, beginning at the Moon Falls Trailhead.
This majestic 80-foot waterfall is a beauty. You'll find a shady picnic table at the base of the falls, where you can watch the water stream down over mossy rocks.
Next, make your way to nearby Pinard Falls. This hike begins at the Pinard Falls Trailhead and is about 0.6 miles. While the trail is short, the descent can be a bit steep in certain parts.
The sound of roaring water will be the first sign you're approaching this glorious, 105-foot waterfall.
Last, but not least, head to Spirit Falls Trailhead. This short, woodsy hike is only 0.3-miles long.
You'll stroll through an enchanting old-growth forest and patches of beautiful trilliums to reach the 40-foot-tall waterfall.
Once you reach the base of the falls, you can sit back, relax, and take in some breathtaking views. You've earned them!
