Bring Your Camera Along When You Take In The Views Atop Rocky Butte In Oregon

Joseph Wood Hill Park offers stunning 360-degree views of Portland and its surrounding landmarks from atop Rocky Butte.

We love the hustle and bustle of Portland, but sometimes we feel like we just want to find a quiet little spot to relax. If you're looking to get away from the crowds of the city and see it from a whole new perspective, hop in the car and head to Joseph Wood Hill Park.

For some of the best views ever, head to the northwest part of Portland to visit Joseph Wood Hill Park. It sits atop Rocky Butte, and it's a little gem above the city.

To get there, take the steep, curvy NE Rocky Butte Road for about a mile until you reach the plateau. Parking is along the street.

At the top, you'll find a pretty, 2.38-acre park with grass, trees, and some absolutely beautiful views.

A path takes you all the way around the park, giving you the opportunity to see 360 degrees of city views. You'll definitely want to bring your camera along on this adventure.

Every direction you look, there's something scenic to enjoy.

It's easy to spot majestic Mount Hood if you look off to the east.

Look to the north to see Mount St. Helens.

You'll also get an eagle's eye view of Portland International Airport in the distance. On a clear day, you can see planes taking off and landing far below.

To the West, catch views of St. John's Bridge, and enjoy fiery sunsets over the city.

Pack a picnic and plan to spend a sunny day atop Rocky Butte.

The park is open every day from 5 a.m. to midnight.
