Most People In Oregon Have No Idea This Unique Park Exists
Prehistoric Gardens in Oregon offers a unique dinosaur-themed attraction with life-sized replicas in a natural rainforest setting.
Do you love dinosaurs? While you might wish you could have seen them while they still roamed the forests of Oregon, you can have the next best thing (without worrying that a T-Rex will eat you!) Check out Prehistoric Gardens:
The next time you find yourself cruising down Highway 101, keep an eye open for a little attraction that many Oregonians don't know about.
Prehistoric Gardens is located along the 101, about halfway between Gold Beach and Port Orford. You can't miss the T-Rex out front.
This place is a throwback to the 1950s. It was artist E.V. Nelson's dream to create this park, and he opened it in 1955, eventually adding 23 dinosaurs over a 30-year time period.
Not only will you enjoy seeing these dinosaurs, but you'll also learn about each species, too.
While some of these replicas are kind of goofy...
...some are more realistic and downright scary! It's probably a good thing that these majestic creatures don't roam Oregon's forests today.
This natural rainforest along the coast is the perfect setting for dinosaurs. It's easy to imagine what it would have looked like millions of years ago, while prehistoric beasts roamed this land.
Kids of all ages will love this little attraction, and if you have a dinosaur lover in the family, you don't want to miss it. It's wheelchair and stroller-accessible and is open during the fall every day from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Admission is $12 for adults; $10 for seniors; $8 for children ages 3-12. Dogs are also allowed in the gardens, as long as they're on a leash.
