The Peavy Arboretum 500 Road is a 3.7-mile trail that journeys straight through the arboretum. The trail is used primarily for hiking, walking, and biking, and is a favorite for those with furry, four-legged adventurers, too!
The geography of this hike is quite varied, with the trail winding past Cronemiller Lake and through lush, old-growth forests.
Along the way, you'll pass one of Peavy Arboteum's most interesting features: a five-acre "pole farm."
These wooden stakes allow students at Oregon State's College of Forestry to observe and research important issues that affect the state's most treasured trees and forests, such as chemical leaching and fire mitigation.
