This Spooky Unexplained Phenomenon in Oklahoma Will Give You Goosebumps
Spook Light in Ottawa County, Oklahoma, is an unexplained phenomenon that has baffled scientists for over half a century.
Many mysterious things happen in Oklahoma, and if you dig deep enough you can usually find an explanation. However, there is one natural (or supernatural) phenomenon that occurs in Ottawa County, Oklahoma that has left scientists baffled for over a half of a century. Welcome to Spook Light...where an unexplained source of light appears over the sky at different times and in different shapes. It appears on the border between Missouri and Oklahoma. However, the light is only visible from inside the Oklahoma border looking to the west.
No one can give an accurate account from where the lights come from, nor can any two people describe the lights in the same words.

The mysterious lights over Ottawa County have been photographed for over a half a century to the amazement of thousands.
During World War II, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers spent weeks in the area with the latest scientific equipment. They came away baffled.
One theory that exists is that it is an optical illusion of the lights off the nearby Interstate 44. However, reports of the lights existed way before the highway was ever built and it could never be proven by scientists.
Some think it is a product of swamp gas, but again it could never be proven.
Despite thousands of hours of combined research, scientific evidence explaining this strange phenomenon's cause still remains inconclusive.
The lights are only visible on the Oklahoma side, not the Missouri side. If you drive past them and look back, you can never see them. Again, another unexplainable attribute of the lights.
The light splits, changes colors and even disappears.
The lights cannot be seen every night. It is reported they're best seen on a humid night. But there is no guarantee that you will see them.
Directions: Exit Interstate 44 onto Hwy 43 South. Head west on Iris Rd until it ends when it intersects with State Line Rd. Head north on State Line Rd. until you reach E. 50th St (Spooklight Road).
