The Lake Hefner Trail is a beautiful trail that is 9 miles long and circles the breathtaking Lake Hefner in Oklahoma City. The stunning views of the golf course, lake, marina/sailboats, and charming lighthouse make this trail a favorite. There are also numerous restaurants and various stopping points along the way. The best part about this trail is that it is essentially flat. So walkers and outdoor enthusiasts of all skill levels will enjoy their time taking in the sites.
One of the more iconic photo spots throughout the Sooner State has to be the Hefner Lighthouse. On this trail, you'll pass by it and it's more of a scene from the east coast than the Sooner State. You can park at the lighthouse and start your walk here or there are other access points you'll find along the road.
Regardless of the temperature outside, when you are walking along this trail there is almost always a breeze off the water that makes this experience even more rewarding. You don't have to walk the entire loop, just turn around whenever you're getting tired and head back to your starting point.
Walking past a marina right in the middle of Oklahoma City is not something you see every day. This marina houses dozens of active sailboats.
Louie's Bar and Grill is just one of the great places to grab a drink while overlooking the gorgeous lake.
With both indoor and outdoor seating, Louie's is a perfect place for a full meal as well. But don't get distracted here, keep moving along this easy paved trail for an enjoyable walk or run.
This scenic trail will also take you past Lake Hefner's two golf courses. Walking along next to the golf course is never a bad view.
Whether it is sunrise or sunset, Lake Hefner is a majestic place and a perfect way to take in the beauty of nature without ever leaving the big city.
