Sit on the edge of a dock, or take a boat out to the middle of the lake while you watch the sun come up over the beauty around you.

If you're looking for a wonderful spot to watch the sun rise, Lake Murray State Park is a picture perfect place to see some of Oklahoma's natural beauty.
Sitting on 12,500 acres of beautifully forested land, this state park is both the first, and the oldest in Oklahoma. It's located right in Ardmore.
The state park is filled with historical sites.
There's a scenic highway that circles the park, 77S. This highway will bring you to many amazing places for you to stop and watch the sun rise.
There are so many places to stop and get an amazing view.
You could even rent a boat, or take your kayak or canoe from home to get out on the quiet lake to watch the sun come up.
The docks are a prime spot for sunrise viewing.
Watching the sun come up over the watery horizon is a calming experience. This is a nice spot to start the day fully charged and calm.
There's also a pretty extensive trail system through this state park.
That means plenty of options for you to hike to where the view is spectacular for watching the sun rise. You could even mountain bike out to these spots to get there faster.
The sunsets aren't half bad, either.
Whenever you choose to enjoy the stunning sky at Lake Murray State Park, you will love the view. Bring a coffee and pastries for breakfast, or a lovely picnic for a late afternoon sunset.
The state park itself is currently open.
Although state park campgrounds, visitor and information centers, and restaurants within the parks are closed. Restrooms are open on a limited basis only to help maintain health and safety during this time.
