Hiking in Oklahoma is all about the views. Just about every trail we set off on is sure to surprise us with jaw-dropping views. Elk Mountain Trail in Oklahoma, for example, boasts an abundance of stunning scenery, including sensational views that will make you feel as though you're walking among the clouds. Next time you're searching for the picture-perfect trail, head out on this one.
Nestled in Charons Garden Wilderness in Indiahoma, Elk Mountain Trail meanders 2.3 miles. Because of its beautiful views, it's a popular trail that can get really busy, especially when the weather is lovely.
However, if you hike the trail when it's not too busy, you'll find the trail is quite peaceful.
Wear sturdy, comfortable hiking shoes or boots for your trek, which is considered moderately difficult and features diverse terrain.
Hikers, who have traversed the path, warn that it can be difficult to follow in spaces. However, keep an eye out for the cairns that will help you stay on the trail.
While some of the massive rocks can look tempting to climb, don't. A sign warns hikers against rock climbing and boulder hopping, both of which can be extremely dangerous.
As you hike to the top of the mountain, you'll pass colorful wildflowers, rock formations, and trees here and there.
The views are simply spectacular.
Once you reach the top of the mountain, sit down on a boulder for a breather and to admire the views. The trail is also dog-friendly, as long as your dog is steady on his feet.
