Winter this year in Oklahoma has proven to be just as wild as always. One day last week you could have gone to breakfast in flip-flops and by dinnertime needed a parka, scarf and beanie. Well, today is another one of those days to bundle up because it's going to be colder here than it is in Antarctica.
Another arctic blast has hit the state and it's bitterly cold. In fact, temperatures are in the single digits and wind chills are below zero in many areas. Several schools have closed today because it's too cold to be outside for any length of time.
Some parts of the state will see rain, sleet, snow or ice. Check your local forecast to stay up to date on your area.
Remember, it's Oklahoma so the weather can change in a moments notice. Always watch out for ice accumulations and drive with caution.
Many Oklahomans will wake up to wind chills below zero. Woodward will feel like -7 degrees, Oklahoma City like -3 degrees and Ponca City will be frigid, as it will feel like -10 degrees.
The good news is, it's Oklahoma so we won't stay colder than Antarctica for very long. In fact, some parts of the state will see 60 degrees by Saturday.
But we're not quite there yet, so remember to bundle up today. It's the kind of day where you're going to need all your winter gear to keep you safe from the elements.
