You May Not Like These Predictions About Cleveland’s Freezing Cold Upcoming Winter

Cleveland is expected to experience a colder-than-usual winter with average snowfall, according to The Old Farmer's Almanac.

Right now, winter is but a cloud looming in the distance. Today, our weather is warm and enjoyable, but we are well aware of what kind of weather is awaiting us in the not-so-distant future. After last year's incredibly mild winter, Ohioans' instincts are telling us that we are going to have an intense winter this year... and while our instincts may not be entirely wrong, there is some good news amidst the weather forecast, according to The Old Farmer's Almanac.

Prepare for monotonous shades of white and gray, Clevelanders, because snow is right around the corner.

The Old Farmer's Almanac just released predictions for this upcoming winter, and Cleveland is expected to get cold.

The Old Farmer's Almanac is well-known for its long-term weather predictions, which have an accuracy rate of 80%. We thrive in what the Almanac considers the Lower Lakes Region, which consists of Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin.

While Cleveland is expected to be colder than usual, we should experience a fairly average snow fall.

Cleveland may see slightly snowier-than-normal conditions on January 20-23, February 4-7 and 16-19, and March 1-3 and 20-23. Come April, though, and we should be in for warmer and slightly drier-than-usual weather.

This winter may include dramatic swings in temperature every here and there, moving from very warm to very cold rather. Crabby Old Man Winter may also be bringing along the occasional winter storm.

After last year's mild winter, our highly accurate Ohioan instinct has been warning us of a much more blistery winter in the 2017-2018 season.

So have your hats and gloves at the ready, because this year you'll need them.

Though snowfall is expected to be fairly normal throughout the winter season, we will experience some unfortunately cold days in early to mid-December, early January, and mid-February.

Thankfully, reports for the months leading up to winter are not too intimidating.

September is expected to be warmer than usual, though thunderstorms are expected September 1-11 and 16-19. Next summer, by the way, is expected to be warmer and drier than usual, so the sunny days will definitely make up for it!

Are you ready for winter, Cleveland? If there is any truth to The Old Farmer's Almanac report, you'll definitely want to bundle up in extra layers for outdoor activities like hikes and horseback riding.
