11 Wintertime Struggles Only True Clevelanders Can Fully Appreciate

Winter in Cleveland presents unique challenges and joys for locals.

Winter in Cleveland is truly a sight to behold. The season is something of a fiasco for locals, but we can't help but enjoy our snowy landscape. We brave extreme temperatures, Lake Erie winds, and, sometimes, even aching joints and muscles to live through it, so it must be worthwhile... right? Nonetheless, winter brings us Clevelanders quite a few unique struggles.

1. When everyone seems to forget how to drive in the snow.

2. It's always a struggle when the surrounding landscape is simply magical but it's too cold to enjoy it.

3. Plus, it can be hard to make plans in advance with our unpredictable weather.

4. When you accidentally under-dress.

There's always at least one occasion every winter where you find that you didn't layer up enough or you failed to layer up completely.

5. And, sometimes, you wear more winter gear than you need.

It's not unheard of to experience a 60-degree day in December, and temperatures have soared even higher as we creep toward February and March.

6. And, after a while, lake effect kind of starts to feel like a cuss word.

"Did you seriously just say that to me under my own roof?"

7. Cabin fever sometimes sets in even when there are things you want to head outside to enjoy.

It just looks so gray and dreary outside at times.

8. And the biggest downside to winter ending is the opportunity to rediscover every pothole in town.

9. Wind seems to be a year-round problem, meaning you'll lose power at the most seemingly random times.

10. We have to remember to never remove our snow scraper and gloves from our car.

Being caught in the cold without these two accessories is truly a nightmare, and snow can strike even well after spring has arrived.

11. And, no matter how hard you try to hate it, you still secretly look forward to winter in The Land.

Winter in Cleveland can be brutal and unforgiving, but it's somehow worth it. What's your favorite part of winter in Northeast Ohio?
