Welcome to one of the most picturesque and serene escapes in the Akron area.

This gorgeous getaway has an unusual history...

...It traces its modern history back to 1916, when The Goodyear Company purchased 720 acres where they planned to begin blimp production.

The 444-acre lake on the site began to be known as Wingfoot Lake, a nod to Goodyear's iconic corporate logo.

The site was particularly valuable during the first World War, as Goodyear produced nine blimps for reconnaissance missions and more than 600 cadets received flight and associated training at the lake.

Goodyear developed the north shore of the lake for use by Goodyear employees.

At its peak, more than 100,000 Goodyear employees brought their families for an annual visit.

In 2009, much to the delight of the public, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife purchased 690 acres at Wingfoot Lake and added it to the state park system.

Today, the lake's scenic beauty is accented by the addition of playgrounds, a dog park, an archery range, boating opportunities, and even hiking trails.

If you're lucky, you might even see one of Goodyear's famous blimps during your visit.

No matter the season, this park is endlessly enchanting.

Lace up your hiking boots and get ready for adventure...

...Because this incredible beauty is only a quick road trip away.

Wingfoot Lake State Park is located at 993 Goodyear Park Boulevard, Mogadore. A valid Ohio fishing license is required for anyone who wishes to fish on the premises, so plan ahead!
