If you've taken any amount of time to explore in Ohio nature, then you know there are hidden gems tucked away all throughout the state.
There are some trails, however, that don't require a whole lot of time to get to the special, serene spots that we all love to photograph and linger in. (For some must-hike trails in Ohio, click here.) The short trek to Cascade Falls in Nelson Kennedy Ledges State Park is one of those short, sweet and special trails. The next time you're in the northeast Ohio area and you need a quick break in nature, this quaint trail is one you'll want to check out.
Portage County is home to this 160-acre park, which features rugged cliffs, hidden waterfalls, unique hiking trails and diverse plant life.

Although there are no overnight facilities available at this park, it's a great day trip destination with multiple different trail options.
There are about 3 miles of trails that take hikers along the rim of the ledges and into the gorge.
The trails vary in length and difficulty and are marked by color: White, Red, Yellow and Blue. To view a map of the specific trails, click here.
The most narrow portion of the trails is near "Devil's Icebox," which is a cold cave that's a cool refuge on a hot summer day. (Pictured above: "The Squeeze.")
The short and sweet .5-mile trek to Cascade Falls is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike.
Along the Yellow Trail, a boardwalk leads the way to Cascade Falls.
The Yellow Trail even features a recess cave beneath Cascade Falls, which gives you a really unique perspective of the falls.
Take some time to take in the view from both above and below. And if you can, plan your visit after heavy rainfall to see a powerful flow.
Although we highly recommend the trek to Cascade Falls, each trail at this little-known state park is worth exploring if you have the time.
Some crevices can take some serious skill to get through—but it just makes the adventure that much more fun.
