The Easy 1-Mile Winter Hike In Ohio That’s Positively Bewitching
Winter in Ohio can be really beautiful. You don't always have to stay cooped up, avoiding the cooler temperatures, fallen snow and sparkling icicles. Sometimes you need to get out and embrace the season for a bit. An easy, short hike is the perfect way to do so. Bundle up, grab your camera and check out this local favorite northeast Ohio hike that's positively bewitching in the winter months.
Cleveland Metroparks is home to a popular hiking area with several gorgeous walkways and small waterfalls called Bedford Reservation.
The Hemlock Loop Trail (circled above in red) is a short, easy hike that's particularly beautiful in the wintertime.
The 0.8-mile trail features a flat, woodland area along the Tinker's Creek floodplain.
It's the perfect easy, hike to take in the winter when you need a breath of fresh air.
You'll see Hemlock Creek Falls along the way, which is gorgeous when it's melting and when it's frozen.
(Right now, water is likely flowing through the creek even with some snow on the ground.)
Tinker's Creek Gorge Overlook and Bridal Veil Falls are other beautiful areas to explore within the Bedford Reservation's trail system.
However, these are more challenging areas to hike. Pictured above is the Bridal Veil Falls walkway.
If you're feeling really ambitious, check out the "Extreme Hiking" on January 14 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Egbert Picnic Area.
You'll explore 6 - 7 miles of winter wonderland trails with a professional naturalist at this event.
