Ohio’s Cincinnati Zoo And Botanical Garden Has Been Voted One Of The Best Zoos In The U.S.

Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden, the oldest zoo in Ohio, is ranked as the second-best zoo in America by USA Today.

Here in Ohio, it can be difficult to choose which one of our amazing zoos is the absolute best—but fortunately for us, we don't have to. Recently, USA Today ranked the 10 best zoos in America and Ohio's very own Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden came in at number 2. From its wide variety of animals and fascinating history to its special events and colorful displays, it's no wonder our beloved zoo earned such a high spot on the list.

The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden is a popular day trip destination for both local and visiting families in the Buckeye State.

It's also the oldest zoo in Ohio, dating back to 1875.

The Cincinnati Zoo was ranked highly for its impressive history, exceptionally designed exhibits and world famous animal friends, such as the playful and friendly Fiona (pictured).

We aren't exactly surprised—but we're definitely proud.

Currently, the zoo has special COVID-19 policies in place to make your visit with the animals safe, healthy and fun. Visit the Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Garden's website to learn more.

Please note: Advanced reservations are required at this time and masks are required indoors and in crowded areas.

During your visit, you'll spot the iconic Reptile House, which is the oldest operating zoo building in the nation. It also dates back to 1875.

Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this one-of-a-kind Turkish-style building has been beautifully restored over the years. Currently, it's home to more than 35 reptile species.

In the springtime, the Zoo Blooms event features a month-long celebration that's a truly spectacular sight to see.

More than 100,000 tulips grace the grounds of Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens during the month of April.

And in the wintertime, the PNC Festival of Lights transforms the zoo into a winter wonderland that features more than 4 million LED lights.

This year's event runs from November 21 - January 3. For more information, click here.
