Embrace the beauty of winter through one of North Dakota's state parks' annual events: Winterfest! Cross Ranch State Park hosts a yearly festival dedicated to all things winter where you and the whole family can go enjoy fun activities, snacks, and the winter scenery. If you've been itching to get out of the house and don't mind getting a little chilly, here is the Winterfest in North Dakota for you:
Cross Ranch State Park, located near Washburn, North Dakota, hosts an annual Winterfest for anyone to attend. In 2021, the Winterfest will be held on Saturday, February 13th.
This park is already great for all sorts of winter activities, from snowshoeing and cross-country skiing to winter camping in their yurts. You can do all of this and more at the fest, along with their special activities!
One of the fun activities only available on this special day is horse-drawn wagon rides. Say hello to the horses and hop in the wagon for a scenic ride through the snow.
The park is located right along the Missouri River, and it's beautiful this time of year.
Along with the carriage rides, people of all ages can enjoy sledding, a scavenger hunt, q water balloon toss, and a guided nature photography hike. Be sure to bring your own camera if you want to attend the photography hike!
There are also refreshments like soup and beverages available, plus you can hang out around a fire and make s'mores. Yum!
There are regular guided hikes, too, or you can meander around the park yourself. Either way, with all of these fun activities, you're sure to have a great day visiting Cross Ranch State Park.
The Winterfest activities begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 13th, 2021, and conclude at 7 p.m. You can learn more about it by visiting this page.
You don't have to wait until summer to enjoy ND's parks. There are many state parks here that are open year-round, snow or shine.
