The Quarry at Carrigan Farms is an old quarry used in the 1960s.
In fact, much of the stone used in the building of Interstate 77 came from this quarry. But, as happens with many quarries, eventually the digging struck an active spring, and the quarry began to fill with water. As a result, the quarry operations soon ceased.
Today the quarry is owned by Carrigan Farms.
It's used for a variety of events, including weddings, corporate gathering, swim parties and open swim dates where anyone can enjoy the spoils of this picturesque swimming hole.
The Quarry at Carrigan Farms has water that's 25-feet deep and a mesmerizing sapphire blue.
For that reason, if you're over the age of 12 you'll need to pass their swimming test in order to swim without wearing a life jacket. Persons under 12 are required to wear a life jacket at all times.
If you're not afraid of heights, then this is the perfect springboard for your summer high-jump antics.
And if you have second thoughts about entering with such dare, then you can always walk right in via the zero-entry level options also.
Be sure to check the calendar for open swim dates before you head to the quarry this summer.
The waterfall and spring-fed swimming quarry at Carrigan Farms is open on select dates through Labor Day. The cost is $15.00 per person (whether swimming or not). You'll need to sign a swimming waiver as well as take the optional swimming test (if you wish to swim without a life jacket). Approximately 300 life jackets are available to swimmers on a first-come, first-served basis. The Quarry at Carrigan Farms is located at 1213 Oakridge Farm Hwy , Mooresville, NC 28115.
